nursing bra conversion
I been breastfeeding for more than two years now, and if there one thing I learned from my experience thus far, it that I hate nursing bras.
I was never blessed with a buxom bosom, but I always thought that once I was pregnant, and then nursing, I would have the voluptuous breasts I dreamed of as a prepubescent teenager. Alas, whatever entity is in charge of doling out the good sized mams must have overlooked me. Even when my milk came in, and I was engorged, I still sat on the fence between a B cup and a C cup.
Back to my hatred of nursing bras. Whoever designed these apparently had no regard to those of us less endowed. The same level of support necessary for the larger breasted ladies is not necessary for us smaller gals. Nursing bras were eating me alive with their 2 inch wide straps. I have no use for four clasps in the back, they just make it harder for me to get dressed. I tried to find a nursing bra that was cute, even gasp, sexy. The sales lady told me she had something that might fit me in a D or E cup, even after I told her I a 34 B. Either she doesn understand how bras work, or did not have a firm grasp on the alphabet.
I was fed up. I decided to take matters into my own hands. A scary thought, since these hands are not crafty hands. Nightmares of Home Economics class came rushing back. I don want to sew my sleeves to anything again. I took the plunge, and am quite pleased with Retro Jordan for Sale http://www.entrustrealty.net/page.aspx the Jordan retro 14 for sale http://www.alterwest.info/style.aspx results, so I thought I share this easy tutorial. This DIY works for any sized bra, therefore, any sized lady.
Without further ado, the nursing bra conversion for the craft challenged mama:
Here what buy Jordans online cheap http://www.entrustrealty.net/page.aspx you need:
A regular bra of your size. I used a wireless. Read my note below regarding bra types.
Thread in a color to match your bra
Nursing bra clasps. You can buy them here.
Sewing needles. I needed more than one. I may have broken a few.
Elastic. I also made some mistakes and had to redo some things. Subsequent bras took anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes.
It also a good idea to figure out what type of knot to use. Once you get it, it easy, I promise!
I not a fan of swimsuit style clasps, or other snaps. I think they too cumbersome for clipping your bra up or down with one hand. I prefer this style, and that is what this tutorial is based on:
I have huge issues with nursing bras. They are unattractive, not always comfortable, hard to find the right size, and the huge one ( for a super tight budget) way too expensive. I resorted to using those bandini bras. They are shaped similar to sports bras but you can chose to wear them with the straps, 1 strap or strapless. They were easy to pull down and you get 2 in a pack but its easy to wear them out and over stretch them if your not comfortable. There is also no padding so you don really want to walk into a cold room.
This idea is so much nicer though. I can buy some decent comfortable bras and I have a little experience sewing so I think I could handle this. It will also give me something to do when they start sending me to sit with the monitor on for who knows how long (which I expect they will make me do again) since I expecting 3.
Been nursing 11 months and I am a huge fan of lifting up my bra instead of using a nursing bra. Like you I do not have large breasts (one is a whole cup larger thanks to the joys of breastfeeding). So when my baby was about 3 months I tossed them in the goodwill pile and went back to my nice, sexy, comfy underwire bras. The lift up your bra method doesn cost money, time, or energy and is a lot easier than unclasping every time you need to nurse (which is a lot) then you have to re clasp which can be hard bc you have a baby in your hands and your shirt is always in the way. But if you lift up your bra you simply pull it back over your breast and voila you done. But this is great for those of you who use the nursing bra and have trouble finding one in your size and style.
